The purpose of the article was to expose the twisting of reports to paint a negative picture of Islam and thus to hopefully educate Muslims to such realities and get them to think critically, rather than merely lap up the information being rammed down our throats on daily basis.

WRT the presenters, provided the laws of the Hijab are observed and the discussions are within the parameters of Islam, there is not much of an issue. Whether there is a dire necessity for such a thing is as you say debatable... but to discuss this is beyond the scope of the article - and certainly a question for the Ulama.

The Jamhoor (majority) opinion is that the voice is not the awrah (that which is to be concealed before a non-mahram). However, the voice must not be made seductive (see Surah al-Ahzaab, verse 32)

See the following for more complete answers:

These are answers from the various schools and perspectives.

As for your last question, history is replete with examples of Islam being attacked from various quarters. One of the verses most apt is,

<blockquote>"Lo! Allah changeth not the condition of a folk until they (first) change that which is in their hearts; and if Allah willeth misfortune for a folk there is none that can repel it, nor have they a defender beside Him." (Surah al-Rad, verse 11) </blockquote>

We have ourselves to blame.

firstly this is another one of those attacks on Muslims which just angers me whilst reading it.

'Some critics say that Awtan TV is restricting women's freedom by making it compulsory to wear the niqab if they want to be presenters.'

well in that case they can go find somewhere else to present and have people look at them in all sorts of ways.

but i do question is there a need for these presenters? yes it provides jobs but there are other ways for them to make a living. i think it has its pros and maybe some cons, but none of the cons are anything mentioned in the article.
also i'd like to know what does Islam say about there voices which can obviously be heard?

finally what should/could we do to stop these constant attacks on Islam

Well said brother..Alhamdulillah atleast we know the other side of the story now. And there is me thinking all this time that this is a war on terror and its necessary for world peace. After watching this video i have come to the conclusion that the amount of drilling the Taliban receieve in the media is all bogus..for what we know it could be the other way round, America/Nato/Pakistani Government they are the real "tyrants" and "barbarians" murdering thousands of muslims day in day out.

May Allah expose the truth for us all to witness..ameen!

The above example given in the comment by SP is but one example of how facebook is misused. There is indeed a much more dangerous implication for its use too.

I would personally steer clear of facebook altogether, with facebook potentially linked to CIA and DARPA - not exactly the most trusted of entities... http://www.nzherald.co.nz/technology/news/article.cfm?c_id=5&objectid=10456534&pnum=0

facebook in reality is nothing but a monitoring system - allowing for surveillance without coercion - people stick up their details as though it is no harm, yet in reality they are allowing themselves to be surveilanced... Basic rule no.1 of internet use, never give out your personal identity or details.

barakAllah feek, thought provoking. hijab is a fard for sisters, but just as you get sisters bending the rules on facebook, brothers do the same.

sometimes your actions on facebook can have bigger consequences than you think at the time, look at the example of the 4 teenagers killed in the car crash on Saturday - the pictures used to show their identities in the media, were pictures taken from facebook. there is no need to mention the details, but i don't think it was suitable to show those pictures of the deceased teenagers, but because they were there, the media used them.

there is also positive discrimination these days, they need people who can work with the Muslim community to apparently prevent extremism, which means loads of funding for Muslims to enjoy all sorts of activities under this pretence, whilst being covertly spied on, and jobs are then created as a result. win win situation, until they find that you have outlived your usefulnes because you are not a sell out, and if you end up being a sell out, then you need to take a serious look at more than just your employment prospects.
