Poem: Supplication from a Sinful Servant

June 29, 2010

Supplication from a Sinful Servant

O Lord of the heavens and the Universe
O Shortner of the paths we traverse
O Lengthener of ease with which we are comforted
O Forgiver of the Sins which I have amounted

I sit on my knees beseeching you
For my hasanaat are indeed very few

My sins stretch the heavens and beyond
Weakened I have my blessed bond

The Basis of Govt. Funded Organisations – a Response to Campusalam

June 10, 2010

CoolnessofHind

Questions are roused predominantly in an environment of fear, exploited by the mass media, and government officials including departments such as the Home Office.  These will inevitably become more and more forceful as the intellectual and political education of Muslims becomes more widespread.

After writing on the topic of government funded organisations a few times, the articles have attracted the attention of a writer over at Campusalam – May Allah(SWT)raise his rank in this Dunya and Akhira and manifest our errors to us all so that we may rectify ourselves and seek forgiveness from Allah Almighty. Ameen.  This article hence, is a response to him.

To accept extremism as an a priori term to describe thought-processes not in tune with the dominant culture or politics in the West with specific applicability to Muslims, is at the least false and unacceptable. For Muslims to adopt the terminology, nay, base entire organisations on the architected and doctored notion of extremism and “countering-extremism” is criminal.  When one looks at the academic veracity of claims of extremism in a given community, the evidence and methodology of “studies” and “think-tank” reports (if there are any) are found to be considerably wanting in terms of their scientific rigour. I remember when I was at university, the media went into a frenzy over potentially “thousands” of Muslim extremists on campus.  I had an interesting conversation with the then shadow education minister.  The first question he asked was “why was there extremism on campus”.  I returned the question back to him thus, “who says there is extremism on campus?”. He referred my attention to the now infamous and defunct Glees Report which was based upon anecdotal evidence – evidence drawn from questionable sources in the first instance and from which the grand claim of potentially hundreds and thousands of students on campus being extremists was drawn.  After demolishing his “evidence” which predetermined his question, he subsequently did not make any further eye-contact.

Erdogan: The Spirit of Sultan Muhammad Fatih

June 5, 2010

By Saiful Islam

May Allah strengthen the Turks and spur them on to action, for they are the single government repeatedly calling a spade a spade and Israel a “terror-state”. The flotilla disaster has proven conclusively how childish and defiant Israel is to the rest of the world’s calls and protests and repeatedly reaffirms the hypocrisy of the West to call on the world armies to liberate an oppressed nation. Perhaps because there is no oil there. Or maybe because the Zionists have a firm grip on the economies of the West.

Nevertheless, according to current reports the venerable Prime Minister of Turkey, Recip Tayip Erdogan is considering going to Gaza himself, aided by the Turkish Navy. If this is the case, May Allah assist him in his endeavours for he has the backing of Muslims of this world to carry out that which the pathetic Arabs cannot even dream of.

When the World Condemned Israel

June 1, 2010

By Saiful Islam

Britain CONDEMNED Israel. Turkey CONDEMNED Israel.  Indonesia CONDEMNED Israel.  Pakistan CONDEMNED Israel. The Arab world CONDEMNED Israel. Europe CONDEMNED Israel.  The UN and the entire WORLD CONDEMNED Israel.  This is how history will recall this rage-inducing act of terror.  But Israel as ever feels it was right to attack a ship containing humanitarian aid. O and lets not forget the other trademark Israeli act: intentional killing of civilians – yep there was a fair share of that too.

Sickening, utterly utterly sickening. Am I suppose to pull out detailed article on how this violates International law?  Or perhaps some clever piece exposing the hypocrisy of the West in tackling terrorism yet somehow they ignore or “regret” Israeli state-sponsored terrorism afflicting civilians carrying aid? No liberation of a people in Palestine by the US and her imperialist allies right?
